Our History
Elder Boswell realized that the establishment of a church is a lofty endeavor that will require a lifetime commitment to excellence and abiding in God’s Word. After much prayer and careful consideration of the responsibilities required seen and unseen including the difficulties that may arise Boswell moved forward to share with his wife, Carolyn Boswell, the Vision to begin the work that God had impressed as an imprimatur upon his heart years earlier.
Shortly afterward, Boswell shared with the COGIC Huntsville District Superintendent and his current pastor Supt. Dr. Terrell Harris, Jr. his idea, including the name that God had given him (Berea Church of God in Christ). Dr. Harris agreed to the idea and gave helpful advice in efforts to move ahead gracefully unto the development of a new mission within the Huntsville District. The Pastor’s vision was presented to the Church of God in Christ, Alabama 1st Jurisdictional Prelate of the who agreed to the Pastor’s vision, with high regard for the name chosen. The location chosen was in Rogersville, Lauderdale County, AL. The Initial Service was on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 10:30 am.
